Qantas Socceroo recruited from Green Gully in Victoria. Since his arrival at Melbourne Victory in 2006, Rodrigo Vargas has established himself as of Australia's best defenders. Vargas won his first Victory Medal alongside Archie Thompson for his efforts in 2007/08 and made his international debut for Australia in an AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Indonesia in Jakarta in 2009.
