Barbarouses brings up Victory milestone

Kosta Barbarouses joined a pair of Melbourne Victory greats with his goal against Sydney FC in the Hyundai A-League on Saturday.

The New Zealander, 29, became just the third player to score 50 goals in all competitions for the club.

Barbarouses (50) joined Victory greats Archie Thompson (93) and Besart Berisha (86) in having reached the 50-goal mark.

Of his 50, 40 have come in the Hyundai A-League, five in the AFC Champions League and five in the FFA Cup.

The forward, playing predominantly up front this season, is in his fifth campaign at the club.

He has set a personal-high for most goals in a league campaign this season, netting 14 times.

Barbarouses is a two-time championship winner with Victory, while also claiming a premiership in 2014/15 and the 2015 FFA Cup.

He was Victory’s hero in last season’s Hyundai A-League Grand Final, scoring the game’s only goal in a win over the Newcastle Jets.
