Melbourne Victory Chairman Anthony Di Pietro has flagged his ambition to be the best in Asia at Friday’s Victory in Business luncheon, proudly presented by AGL.

Speaking to a room full of over 1,200 guests, Di Pietro looked to the future of both Melbourne Victory and the Hyundai A-League.

“With regards to football in Australia, from Melbourne Victory’s perspective we look to the future with real positivity but we recognise the challenges that lay ahead,” Di Pietro said.

“Our club remains determined to win trophies.

“There is no reason why we can not aim to be the champions of Asia while at the same time keeping the Premiers plate and Championship trophy firmly in our sights.”

Di Pietro also discussed his reasons for supporting an independent Hyundai A-League.

“It presents the opportunity for a dedicated focus on growing the revenues needed to expand the league and the game.

“It allows the FFA to focus on the important areas of governance, international relations and all of the national teams and curriculum.

“At Victory, we believe the new league provides the opportunity to reset investment in marketing and PR, investment in digital platforms to connect new audiences and investment in match day experiences to go to a world class level.

“All of which will support growth in revenues, growing revenues will underpin more marquee players, such as our Keisuke Honda and Ola Toivonen, who both join us today.”

Proudly presented by AGL, Victory in Business is Australia’s largest sporting networking group outside of game day.
