On behalf of the Melbourne Victory family we would like to congratulate Football Federation Australia and New Zealand Football on winning the rights to host the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

This truly is an historic moment in Australian sport, and we would also like to acknowledge the support the Federal Government has played in helping secure one of the biggest tournaments in world sport right here in our backyard.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our nation to come together as one, pull on the green and gold and rally behind the Matildas as they contend for the title of World Champions on home soil.

The first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup to be hosted here in the Southern Hemisphere will see the eyes of the world focused on Australia, including our beautiful city of Melbourne.

The 2023 Australia-New Zealand FIFA Women’s World Cup will be the largest ever hosted. It is expected to attract record-breaking crowds, enormous global TV audiences, boost tourism and will be great for local business.

Hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup will also have a positive flow on effects for our game from the grassroots right up to the W-League and A-League. It will also help accelerate the growth, participation and development of women’s football, creating a enduring legacy for the women’s game.

We cannot wait for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to come to Melbourne. We look forward to working with the local organising committee to help deliver a memorable experience for everyone who visits our wonderful city and stadium.
