With the club’s pre-season preparations well and truly underway, Melbourne Victory spent much of June out and about in the local community, in particular supporting Melbourne Victory Schools 5-a-Side and Optus Small Sided Football.

Melbourne Victory Schools 5-a-Side Gala Days were held in Ascot Vale, Bentleigh, Boronia, Burwood, Broadmeadows, Doncaster, Edithvale, and Forest Hill, with Melbourne Victory players Evan Berger, Matthew Kemp, Mathew Theodore, Michael Theoklitos and Nick Ward meeting and encouraging participants.

Melbourne Victory Women defender Marlies Oostdam assisted participants at the Ascot Vale, Boronia, Doncaster and Forest Hill Gala Days, providing important advice and encouragement to the aspiring players of the game.
Optus Small Sided Football Gala Days in Bentleigh, Berwick and Darebin saw young footballers from 17 junior clubs visited by Billy Celeski, Nathan Elasi, Matthew Kemp and Mitchell Langerak.

Danny Allsopp was a guest at the Whitefriars College Football Presentation Evening, while Carlos Hernandez and Rodrigo Vargas met junior players and supporters at Bundoora United.

“It was a pleasure to assist in acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the Whitefrairs students throughout the season and their enthusiasm was great,” Allsopp said.

“It’s always rewarding to connect back to the community, particularly with Whitefrairs College being based in the area where I grew up.”
