Melbourne Victory Football Club is delighted to announce the introduction of the Melbourne Victory School Sport Victoria Premier League competition for secondary schools.

The School Sport Victoria Premier League competition, proudly supported by Melbourne Victory Football Club, will kick off for the first time in term 1, 2015.  Melbourne Victory FC, School Sport Victoria and Football Federation Victoria will provide a competition for senior secondary school students that encourages participation at the highest level in school football.

The Premier League will see eligible schools compete during term 1, with Melbourne Victory FC hosting the competition final on AAMI Park, ahead of the match between Melbourne Victory FC and Central Coast Mariners on April 10, 2015.

It is a really exciting time for football in Victoria and Melbourne Victory has worked closely with School Sport Victoria to build this competition.  We are enormously proud of our work in schools and see the Premier League as a natural extension of the programs we currently support in primary and secondary schools.  There are School Sport Victoria Premier League competitions for other sports but this is a first for football.  We congratulate School Sport Victoria on the introduction of this competition and we encourage schools to get involved.

School Sport Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Jude Maguire, said “The Premier League level of competition allows schools with significant sports programs to showcase this and to provide challenging competition to the athletes. SSV is extremely thankful for the support from our partner Melbourne Victory, Football Federation Victoria and the SSV Football Sub-committee in making this competition possible.”

Melbourne Victory is looking forward to working with the Premier League schools and to supporting a competition that encourages greater interest in football.  We also look forward to showcasing Victorian school football alongside our A-League competition.  The winner of the Melbourne Victory School Sport Victoria Premier League competition will be entitled to compete for the ‘Victory Shield’ to be held later in 2015.

Expressions of interest for the Melbourne Victory School Sport Victoria Premier League competition must be lodged with School Sport Victoria by December 5, 2014.
