Kicking off at 4.15pm, the W-League side will be keen to come off a week-s break and avenge their AAMI Park loss against top side Brisbane Roar a fortnight ago. With one win and one draw from their four matches this season, three points against Perth will be crucial to keeping the Victory in touch with the top four and keeping alive their first chance at finals in the W-League-s short history.
In a treat for Victory fans, the W-League side will play before the A-League fixture, meaning entry into the venue provides supporters the opportunity to see both matches. The ‘double header- has become an annual fixture in the W-League calendar and one which the team thoroughly enjoy as it has meant playing in front of some big crowds. This will be the W-League team-s second consecutive match on AAMI Park, the players also revelling in the opportunity to compete at such a premium venue.
“It-ll be terrific to be out on AAMI Park prior to the men-s game as it will give us a chance to showcase the W-League in front of Victory fans,” said coach Vicki Linton.
“It-s an important game for us. In a short season like this, we need points against Perth to stay in touch with finals, so hopefully there-ll be a big early Victory crowd there to help get us over the line,” she added.
