Melbourne Victory forward Fahid Ben Khalfallah has been named the PFA Hyundai A-League Player of the Month for March.

Ben Khalfallah beat Western Sydney Wanderers’ Kerem Bulut, Sydney FC’s Marc Janko, Brisbane Roar’s Brandon Borello and Wellington Phoenix duo Nathan Burns and Roly Bonevacia for the honour.

The Tunisian international scored in MVFC’s 2-2 draw with Adelaide United and provided three brilliant assists in the 3-0 win against Western Sydney Wanderers in March.

“I’m very happy to have been chosen by the players as the player of the month, it is a great honour,” Khlafallah said.

“We play good football at the club and this is a team award because my teammates make this possible.

“When I came to Australia I didn’t know what to expect and I have been very impressed by the club and the league.

“It’s a very good level and the club is just like playing in Europe with the crowds and the facilities and I’m very happy at the Victory.”

PFA president Matt McKay hailed Ben Khalfallah’s impact on the Hyundai A-League following his arrival from French side Troyes AC last year.

“Throughout the season Fahid has been one of the league’s most outstanding players and no more so than during March and he is hugely deserving of the award,” McKay said.

“It is vital that we are able to retain and attract players of his quality to ensure the A-League continues progress.”
