Finkler, Galloway ‘outside chances’ to return on Saturday

Finkler, Galloway ‘outside chances’ to return on Saturday

Melbourne Victory Coach Kevin Muscat says Gui Finkler and Scott Galloway could line up against Sydney FC at Etihad Stadium tomorrow night.

Speaking to the media following the side’s final training session, Muscat said the duo would be given every chance to prove their fitness.

“They’ve both (Finkler and Galloway) trained with the squad during the week. They’ve done a bit more on their own today just to test them, but yeah, they’d be an outside chance,” Muscat said.

Muscat said the players themselves were itching to return but knew there was no need to rush them back in to the side.

“No risks will be taken without doubt, but we’ll give them every chance. It’s the same with any player, if they aren’t 100 per cent, they won’t play.”

Having seen his share of big clashes with rivals Sydney FC, Victory’s boss said the preparation for this game was no different and there was plenty of anticipation among the playing group to continue the club’s undefeated start to the season.

“It’s a massive game and another opportunity for us to perform in front of members and fans. Our home games have been very good in terms of excitement, entertainment and attacking football.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to take three points tomorrow night.”

“The reality is we are second on the table. If trophies were handed out now, we wouldn’t get anything. It’s hard work that has got us to this point and there is certainly a lot more hard work that’s going to be needed for us to achieve anything this season.

“We still truly believe we have a lot of improvement left in us. There’s a certain amount of hunger. We’re in a good space at the moment, but there’s still more to do.”
