Melbourne Victory has advised that German defender Tim Hoogland will be sidelined for up to six weeks due to a quad injury.

Hoogland sustained the injury at training late on Friday and was subsequently unable to play in the club’s opening Hyundai A-League fixture against Melbourne City last Saturday night.

Melbourne Victory’s General Manager Football Operations Paul Trimboli said it was an unfortunate injury for Hoogland after impressing since his arrival at the club.

“Tim went down at the end of training last Friday in our final session before round one,” said Trimboli.

“He has had scans which confirmed he will spend around six weeks on the sidelines.

“It’s a frustrating setback for him who really impressed us in the lead up to the season, however he’s a determined character and we know he’ll come back fit and firing.”

Further updates on Hoogland’s injury progress will be provided to the media over the coming weeks.
