International call ups for Victory stars

International call ups for Victory stars

Six Melbourne Victory players have been named across a range of international teams in the November FIFA international window.

Captain Mark Miilligan has been called up for the Socceroos clash in Japan, while Daniel Georgievski (Macedonia) and Kosta Barbarouses (New Zealand) will represent their nations in upcoming friendlies..

Young guns Scott Galloway, Jason Geria and Connor Pain have also been named in the Olyroos squad, that will head to China in the same week.

Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou has made five changes to the squad that played the UAE and Qatar with Matt McKay, Mitch Nichols, Terry Antonis, Aaron Mooy and Robbie Kruse coming in.

This will be the final hitout for the Socceroos, prior to the AFC Asian Cup in January.

“The Japan match is the final hit out before the Asian Cup and we’ll have a good week of training leading into the game so we can continue to work on what we’ve been trying to achieve before we take on a tough opponent in Japan,” Postecoglou said.

Olyroos Head Coach Aurelio Vidmar today named a 22-man squad to play high profile matches against Brazil, China and Korea Republic in a Four-Nation International Friendly tournament in Wuhan, China from 14 to November 18, 2014.

Vidmar said he was looking forward to working with the players as he begins preparations for the next AFC U-22 Championship campaign which will double as the qualification tournament for the 2016 Olympic Games Football Tournament.

“When the opportunity came up to play three quality matches at this stage of our preparations we had no hesitation in accepting,“ said Vidmar.

“It has been a while since we have been together as group and I will be using this camp to assess how everyone is progressing.”

The Olyroos’ matches will be played in Wuhan, China.

Georgievski’s Macdeonia will take on Slovakia as part of the qualifying process for the 2016 Euros, while Barbarouses’ New Zealand will take on China and Thailand in Asia.

The six players will be unavailable for the Round 6 clash against Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium.
