Melbourne Victory wishes to advise that it has agreed to release defender Jason Geria from his contract.
The 24-year-old recently signaled his desire to join a Japan-based club and a transfer fee for his services has since been agreed.
“We’re obviously very disappointed to lose another senior player from our squad, but Jason was adamant this was an opportunity that he wanted to pursue,” said Head Coach Kevin Muscat.
“Jason has established himself as a regular member of our starting XI and will be missed, but we’re starting to build some solid momentum now and it’s important we push on.”
Geria made over 130 first team appearances for Melbourne Victory since joining the club in 2012 and will depart for Japan in the coming days.
