Kean previews Macarthur fixture

Steve Kean has assessed Victory’s recent performances, ahead of the Club’s first away visit to Macarthur FC, the second meeting between the clubs in nine days.

Melbourne travels to Campbelltown Stadium off the back of two narrow defeats against the Bulls and Perth Glory.

Kean on tonight’s match…

“It’s always strange when you play against a team again so quickly, but we felt we dominated the last game against them.

“We will try to nullify their threats and we believe there’s enough for us to build on.

“We’ll go into game confident we can get something – if not all three points.

“We’ll be hard to beat. We’ll be tight, compact and hard to break down.”

Kean on recent results…

“It’s always difficult when you lose but when you analyse the last two games, there’s a lot of positives.

“We had 21 shots in the Macarthur game and in Perth we still had a good amount of attacks with ten men.

“When we were down to ten, with our backs to the wall, the lads pushed themselves and were just as effective. We kept our shape, kept our discipline and our defensive structure.”

Kean on mentality…

“The players know we’ve had some games where we should’ve got some results, but we’re chasing performances.

“If you chase the performance, the results will come. We have to keep to our structure and game plan and we’re confident we can get results in our last few games.”
