Last weekend saw the playing group travel to areas of regional Victoria to deliver this year-s KFC Regional Roadshows allowing thousands of junior footballers to get up close and personal to their heroes.

The boys visited Shepparton, Traralgon, Bendigo, Ballarat and Geelong, with the events a huge success once again, as the club was able to engage with over 5000 budding stars and provide them with a positive Melbourne Victory experience. Click here for photo gallery.

Victory’s stars were on hand to sign autographs and pose for photos with their young fans, while getting involved in fun competitions and also providing some playing advice to the local sides who took part in small-sided football throughout the day.

The number of kids at each regional centre was overwhelming and the players thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the young footballers.

Captain Adrian Leijer said, “It was great to go back to my hometown of Geelong and see so many youngsters participating in football. It was a great day, and one that I look forward to each year.”

Socceroo Mark Milligan agreed, “It was fantastic to head out into regional Victoria and the response we got in Bendigo was amazing. It was a great experience and something I’ll look forward to taking part in again next year.”

The KFC regional Roadshows are one of the many ways in which the club engage with communities to provide a positive football experience and encourage participation in football at a grassroots level.

Melbourne Victory would like to thank KFC and all Regional Football Coordinators for their help in the organisation and delivery of the events.
