Melbourne Victory Captain Adrian Leijer is proud to be an ambassador for Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (RGAW), an initiative that aims to foster a culture of responsible gambling in the community.

Officially launched by Minister for Liquor and Gaming Regulation Edward O-Donohue on Monday 20 May, RGAW is run by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation in partnership with the gaming industry, local government, community and sporting organisations.

Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation CEO Serge Sardo says the themes for this year-s Responsible Gambling Awareness Week focus on the increase in online gambling and sports betting advertising, particularly its effects on young people.

“Responsible Gambling Awareness Week emphasises the need for parents, teachers and the community to educate young people about the risks associated with gambling,” said Mr Sardo.

To help raise awareness about responsible gambling, the Foundation has also released the Responsible Gambling Guide, which includes facts and tips for teachers and parents.

A number of grassroots events are being held this week across Victoria to promote responsible gambling.
