Ola Toivonen’s record-breaking start to life in Melbourne Victory colours shows no sign of slowing down.

The Swedish striker has been directly involved in 13 goals this season, scoring 10 and creating three, the joint most of any player in the Hyundai A-League.

Toivonen made his Victory debut in Round 4 against Central Coast Mariners and is set to make his 14th Victory appearance this weekend.

With Victory boasting an impressive record against the Mariners, winning 12 of the last 16, the man in form will be keen to add to his tally.

Ahead of Round 17, we look back at Toivonen’s A-League highlights so far:

First start, first goal

The Swedish star opened his Victory account with a left-footed finish against Sydney in Round 5.

Three points confirmed

A clever backheel from Terry Antonis provided Toivonen with the chance to secure a home win against Adelaide United. The 32-year-old coolly finished and soaked in the cheers from the Marvel Stadium crowd for the first time.

Victory’s 600th

Victory became the first A-League club to score 600 goals, when Toivonen opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw against Melbourne City.

“Toivonen can’t stop scoring!”

James Troisi assisted Toivonen twice during Victory’s 2-1 win over Western Sydney in Round 11.

Goal of the round

The Swede’s goal tally reached double figures in Round 16 with a stunning free-kick against Sydney – striking the inside of the post.

Toivonen’s 10th goal in 13 appearances broke the previous record of 10 goals in 19 games, set by Besart Berisha and Archie Thompson.
