Max Beister closing in on Victory debut

Melbourne Victory will unleash its newest signing Max Beister in the Hyundai A-League when the time is right, according to head coach Kevin Muscat.

Beister, who has been in Australia for just over a week, is working his way towards full fitness before he gets a chance to debut for the club.

“We just feel that there are players in the ahead of him in terms of fitness at this point in time. We won’t put him at risk,” Muscat said.

“You’re coming into a team that has had three months of pre-season and 12 games, so you’re behind the eight-ball.”

“But he’s lifted the intensity of players around him. There’s been a reaction from Jai (Ingham), Mitch (Austin), Marco (Rojas) and these guys. He’s making it hard.

“He’s improved. He’s been here for eight days. We estimated he was going to take a little bit of time.

“When the time is right, we’ll make that decision.”
