We’ve added plenty of new faces, and some familiar ones, to our squad for the 2019/20 season.

Tim Hoogland

A versatile player who can do a job in both defence and midfield, Tim Hoogland joins us from German side VfL Bochum. ‘Hoogy’ has top-flight German experience with FC Schalke and Mainz 05, and even managed to score at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

Jakob Poulsen

Experienced holding midfielder Jakob Poulsen joins us following a decorated stint at Denmark’s FC Midtjylland, where he won two Superligas and one Danish Cup. Jakob also has experience with France’s AS Monaco and Holand’s Heerenveen, plus 35 caps for the Danish national side.

Andrew Nabbout

A name familiar to Victory supporters, Andrew Nabbout returns to the club where his senior career began. Nabbout is now a Socceroo with FIFA World Cup experience and joins Victory from J1 League powerhouse Urawa Reds.

Robbie Kruse

Robbie Kruse’s form at Melbourne Victory during his initial stint at the club launched a career in Europe which peaked at Bundesliga giant Bayer Leverkusen. Kruse returns to Melbourne with eight years of experience in Europe and 75 caps for the Socceroos.

Adama Traore

Adama Traore is a fan favourite who won the 2014 Victory Medal following a series of stellar performances. Traore has since played for clubs in Turkey, Portugal and Switzerland and brings plenty of pace and energy to our defence.

Kristijan Dobras

26-year-old Kristijan Dobras is an attacking midfielder who has made the switch to Melbourne from Austrian Bundesliga side SC Rheindorf Altach. Dobras has also played for two of Austria’s biggest teams, Rapid Wien and Sturm Graz.

Migjen Basha

An experienced midfielder, Migjen Basha last played for Greek side Aris Thessaloniki F.C before making the move to Melbourne. The 32-year-old Albanian, who has 29 caps for his national team, spent most of his career to date in Italy – most notably for Atalanta and Torino.

Youth

We’ve also added some exciting youth players to our squad for the coming season. Make sure you keep an eye on Ben Carrigan and Brandon Lauton who make the step up from our youth academy, as well as Jay Barnett, a young midfielder who joins us from Brisbane Roar.
