Melbourne Victory head coach Kevin Muscat is hopeful over the severity of Leroy George’s injury suffered in the Derby win.

George’s 62nd-minute header helped Victory to an entertaining 2-1 win over City at AAMI Park on Friday.

But the star winger limped off in the second half of the win, with Victory next in action with a trip to Kawasaki Frontale in the AFC Champions League on Wednesday.

Muscat said George’s injury was a worry, but he hopes the winger’s setback is not too serious.

“It’s always a concern, but we’ll assess him and see what we need to do with him,” he told Fox Sports.

“I’m hopeful he’ll be OK. At the moment, I don’t know.”

Earlier, Kosta Barbarouses’ goal was cancelled out by a Bruno Fornaroli penalty, with Victory going within a point of third place in the Hyundai A-League.
