Muscat: It was typical Melbourne Victory

Melbourne Victory head coach Kevin Muscat was proud of his team after its stunning win over Sydney FC in the Semi Final on Saturday.

Terry Antonis scored an incredible 117th-minute winner at Allianz Stadium to see Victory past the Sky Blues 3-2 after extra time.

The midfielder had earlier scored at the wrong end after Kosta Barbarouses and James Troisi had cancelled out Stefan Nigro’s own goal.

Muscat lauded Antonis for his response to the late devastation in regulation time and his team for its win.

“You could just see how he was hurting. He was affected for a couple of minutes,” he told Fox Sports.

We kept getting messages to him to stay positive.

“It was something right throughout extra time, it’s just typical us and typical Melbourne Victory, in enemy territory.

“We said to the players that victory is going to taste so much sweeter by doing it the hard way and that’s certainly what it was.

“You can’t tell me we didn’t deserve that, it was outstanding, it was a great performance, great night for football.”

Victory will make the trip to Newcastle to face the Jets in the Grand Final on Saturday.
