Next Friday night-s Kevin Muscat Testimonial match at Melbourne-s new AAMI Park is getting closer, and today we can announce the ‘Come Play XI- set to take on Melbourne Victory.
The occasion will honour Victory-s long-serving skipper, who has captained the club since it-s inception 5 years ago, and gives Australia-s brightest young talent the chance to participate in the first football match ever played at Melbourne-s new purpose-built rectangular stadium.
When AAMI Park lights up football for the first time, it will also give members and supporters an opportunity to experience the atmosphere and visual proximity, at the clubs new home.
Melbourne Victory Football Operations Manager, Gary Cole, encouraged fans to join in the festivities; “it-s a great opportunity for them to show their appreciation for Kevin and at the same time cast an eye over the next generation of potential-Socceroos.”
“With some of Australia-s best youngsters, such as Leckie and Zullo set to take on our boys, it certainly should be an interesting contest.
“The night really is a fitting tribute to Kevin who has been a fantastic servant for Australian football over a long period of time. He-s without doubt helped the game to scale new heights in this country” Cole said.
With Muscat still to decide on his playing future – Friday May 14th could be the last opportunity fans have to see their dual-Premiership and Championship winning skipper in action.
