Muscat: We’re positive ahead of Jets clash

Melbourne Victory Head Coach Kevin Muscat is focused solely on the match against Newcastle Jets on Saturday.

Speaking to media on Friday morning, Muscat seemed hopeful and in high spirits about the upcoming clash.

“We’ll go across there with a really positive attitude, really positive mindset. Picking the pieces out of last week there was some really good stuff there, but also some things to improve on and we’ve identified those.”

Although confident, he is not complacent and is well aware of Newcastle’s home ground advantage, and emphasised that it will be a challenge.

“It will be a different contest, their form at home has been pretty good and going off the last game (against them), there was some really good stuff from our perspective.”

In team news, Muscat is not dwelling on the loss of Mark Milligan, who made the move to Saudi club Al-Ahli earlier in the week.

He is instead focussed on the travelling squad and the players he has to work with.

“My focus is on the players that are here, it’s never ideal to be losing players in January but that isn’t the focus. The focus is on the group, and we’ve got a real strong group and some real good leaders.”

“It’s disappointing, but we move on and we’ve got a big game to look forward to know with a real good group, a real positive group so that’s the focus.”
