NPL preview: Hume City v Victory

Melbourne Victory will be aiming to bounce back from its deflating loss to Richmond SC when it visits Hume City at ABD Stadium on Saturday night.

The two teams have faced off in friendlies, the Westfield FFA Cup and most recently the Playstation 4 NPL Victoria in the previous 12 months.

Lou Acevski’s side came away with all three points in March, claiming a 3-0 win at Epping Stadium.

Victory will look to avoid a similar result, as it harbours hopes of survival in Victoria’s top flight.

A 3-1 defeat to Richmond in Round 17 was a harsh lesson in finishing, as the visitors made the most of their opportunities.

It will face a Hume side buoyed by its qualification for the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 for the second consecutive year, after knocking out Richmond at home.

Craig Carley will pose a significant threat up front for a Hume side boasting a prolific strike force.

Its triumph over Oakleigh Cannons last Saturday sees it sitting on equal points with Heidelberg United and Green Gully in the upper reaches of the ladder.

A win for Victory could see it rise off the bottom of the standings, in what would be a welcome reprieve.
