Melbourne Victory is back at home in Round 2 of the NPL2 West, hosting Brunswick City on Sunday.

Despite dominating possession, Victory started its campaign with a 1-0 loss to the North Geelong Warriors.

It battled to create clear-cut chances, with forward Pierce Waring having its best opportunities at Epping Stadium.

Nicholas Hatzigeorgiou and Brandon Lauton combined well in the middle, while winger Nicholas Sette caused problems on both flanks.

Victory hosts a Brunswick side which started its season with a 2-2 draw against Sunshine George Cross.

The teams last met in the final round of 2017, with Brunswick claiming a 2-1 win at home.

Head coach Gareth Naven
“We’ve had our review. The players are well aware, reflecting afterwards, there were moments where our intensity is at the right level, our focus is at the right level, our concentration, it’s just encouraging our boys to do that more often and I think they see that. They do that. They perform at their best – you can make mistakes within that period, which is normal – but they are always actively doing their best and working hard for each other and working hard for the club. There were some good things to build on for the game against Brunswick.”
