NPL preview: Victory v Green Gully

NPL preview: Victory v Green Gully

Melbourne Victory will face one of its sternest tests yet when it hosts Green Gully in Round 12 of the Playstation 4 NPL Victoria at Epping Stadium on Saturday.

Victory ended its winless streak last week, netting three times in the final 10 minutes to record a 3-1 win over Pascoe Vale.

Joey Katebian starred with a brace, while John Maclean demonstrated how valuable he is to Victory with a classy all-round showing.

But the tasks do not get any easier, with an in-form Green Gully coming to town.

Fresh off a 5-0 rout of Oakleigh Cannons, the nine-time Victorian champions have gone from strength to strength in recent weeks.

Sitting in fourth in the standings, the Cavaliers have won four of their past five matches.

Once a feared powerhouse of Victorian football, Gully has experienced a disheartening slump in the past few years.

Now coached by Arthur Papas, the man who guided Oakleigh Cannons to the Quarter Finals of the 2015 Westfield FFA Cup, Gully will be hoping to mount a resurgence and restore its pride.

But it will be tough against a Victory side desperate to build on its 10 points this season.

Entry is $10 for adults, $5 for concession and free for children 15 and under.

The under-20s kick off at 12.00pm, followed by the seniors at 2.00pm.
