NPL preview: Victory v Heidelberg United

Rounding out the PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria season on a high will be on Melbourne Victory’s agenda when it hosts Heidelberg United at Epping Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Despite already being relegated from Victoria’s top tier, Victory almost tripped up high-flying Green Gully last week, with a brave showing not enough to prevent a 2-1 loss

Pierce Waring repaid his coach’s faith by netting in the second half, while Victory’s back four defended admirably in the face of Gully’s formiable line-up.

A similar test will be in store against Heidelberg, which prevailed 4-2 when the sides last met.

Heidelberg has since consolidated second place in the PS4 NPL Victoria, which it can hold on to with a win on Sunday.

Harry Noon and Kosta Kanakaris are two men Victory will need to guard carefully as it seeks to frustrate the in-form Bergers.

Entry is $10 for adults, $5 for concession and free for children 15 and under.

The under-20s kick off at 1.00pm, followed by the seniors at 3.00pm.
