Melbourne Victory welcomes Murray United to Epping Stadium in Round 12 of the NPL2 West on Saturday.

Victory was undone by two set-pieces in its previous outing, suffering a 2-1 loss to the Goulburn Valley Suns.

It had taken an early lead through Brandon Lauton’s first goal of the season, but two Craig Carley headers in the second half saw the Suns to their win.

Victory had dominated the first half of the encounter, however, it was unable to take its chances.

Fast starts have been a feature of Victory’s season so far, having scored seven of its 19 goals in the opening 15 minutes.

It sits seventh on the table and takes on a Murray outfit which is seventh in the NPL2 East.

The teams last met in March last year, with Victory recording a 3-1 win in Albury-Wodonga.

Head coach Gareth Naven

“I think it’s a bit of everything [when it comes to dealing with set-pieces]. There’s the tactical aspect of it and knowing our role, there’s a physical aspect in understanding how to deal with your opponent and how you can control them and obviously the other aspect is at the end of the day you must be brave and attack the ball. Those are three things that we try and execute well and make sure we create a standard that our defensive set-pieces are a real strength of ours and that’s going to be a continual thing for youth footballers.”
