NPL preview: Victory v Oakleigh Cannons

Oakleigh Cannons lie in wait for Melbourne Victory’s PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria side, which will be looking to return to winning ways when the two sides go head to head at Epping Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Victory has found the going tough in its past two matches against PS4 NPL Victoria powerhouses Hume City and Bentleigh Greens, coming away with nothing to show for its admirable performances.

Returning home might be the perfect remedy, as Victory hopes to quell a confident Oakleigh side.

Co-coached by Peter Tsolakis and Con Tangalakis, the Cannons have recovered from a tame start to the season to record shock wins over Victory’s two most recent opponents in Hume and Bentleigh.

The Cannons put together a commendable 2015 Westfield FFA Cup run, reaching the Quarter Finals, before being knocked out by Hume.

Oakleigh’s 2016 aspirations have been somewhat reduced as it seeks to rebuild, making its run of form noteworthy.

But the Cannons will need to be vigilant and not underestimate a Victory team hungry for its first win in almost a month.

Lucas Spinella has been in tremendous form for Victory, providing plenty of confidence for the rest of the side.

Three points for Victory could see it surge back into the top six, subject to other results going its way.

Entry to the match is $10 for adults, $5 for concession and free for children 15 and under.
