NPL preview: Victory v Pascoe Vale

Melbourne Victory will look to put a disappointing run of PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria results behind it when it hosts Pascoe Vale at Epping Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Victory’s relegation from the top tier of Victorian football was confirmed last week, with the team rooted to the bottom of the table.

The match against Pascoe Vale comes two weeks after Victory’s 4-1 loss to South Melbourne in Round 22.

A second-half masterclass saw South prevail, though Victory held its own for long periods of the contest.

John Maclean scored Victory’s lone goal against South in what was his final appearance for the club, wiht the forward leaving to pursue another NPL opporuntity.

Maclean’s absence will provide chance for another one of Victory’s youngsters to try and help replicate the 3-1 win over Pascoe Vale when the sides last met in May.

But Victory will face a very different Pascoe Vale this time round, with Vitale Ferrante’s men having put together an impressive winning streak since then.

Pascoe Vale has only tasted defeat once in its previous eight matches, which has seen it remain an outside chance to qualify for the top six and a Finals berth.

The forward pairing of Davey van’t Schip and Marino Gasparis looms as a dangerous one for Victory’s defence, which will need to be at its best to curtail the threat.

Entry is $10 for adults, $5 for concession and free for children 15 and under.

The under-20s kick off at 1.00pm, followed by the seniors at 3.00pm.
