NPL preview: Victory v Ranges

Melbourne Victory will look to bounce back when it hosts the Whittlesea Ranges in the NPL 3 Victoria on Sunday.

Summary

Victory produced a solid performance, but fell to a 1-0 loss to the Preston Lions last time out.

In what was a relatively even encounter, Victory was unable to find a breakthrough against unbeaten Preston.

Gianluca Iannucci looked the most likely to score for Victory, forcing several saves from Lions goalkeeper Matthew Symes.

Victory will host Whittlesea at Epping Stadium as it seeks to respond to that defeat.

In a positive sign, Lleyton Brooks – who featured in the NPL 3 Victoria in the opening two rounds – scored the winner for the A-League side against the Newcastle Jets last week.

While Victory sits sixth on the table in the NPL 3 Victoria, Whittlesea is 11th.

Victory and Whittlesea last met in July 2019, when Ranges recorded a 1-0 win.
