Melbourne Victory hosts Werribee City as it seeks a strong finish to the PlayStation 4 NPL2 West season.

Victory has won two of its past three matches, including beating Bendigo City 5-2 last time out.

Meanwhile, Callum Goulding, Christian Theoharous and Pierce Waring, who have played key roles in the PS4 NPL2 West this season, were on the scoresheet for Kevin Muscat’s Hyundai A-League squad in its 3-0 win against Port Melbourne in a friendly on Tuesday.

Victory head coach Gareth Naven said the performances were a nice reminder to the rest of his NPL squad.

“I think all the youth players will be happy for those players. It’s an opportunity,” he said.

“Playing with the senior players is a good experience. Having older players around you with a wealth of experience makes the match a different environment than the youth. Youth players, you have 16- or 17-year-olds left, right, middle and behind you.

“If you’re playing in Kevin’s team, you have some very good players around you who really do help you in regards to the match and how you manage the match. It’s good for players to get an opportunity.

“For those players who are still with me in the youth, they’re reminded that there’s always opportunity to go and improve and get opportunities in the A-League squad with Kevin.

“I’m looking forward to this week’s game to try and cement some more consistency within our group.”

Midfielder Nicholas Hatzigeorgiou, 16, scored a brace in Bendigo to take his tally to three goals in two weeks.

Nicholas Sette also scored against Bendigo for what was his team-leading 10th goal of the campaign.

Werribee is ninth on the table – a position behind Victory – and suffered a 3-0 loss when the teams met in April.

Victory members receive free entry to all PS4 NPL2 West home games this season. For non-members, tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for concession, with kids under 15 free.
