Round 15 preview: Roar v Victory

Melbourne Victory seeks a second win in four days when it visits Brisbane Roar in the Hyundai A-League on Tuesday.

Summary

Victory returned to winning ways by overcoming the Newcastle Jets 2-1 at AAMI Park.

Fine strikes from Terry Antonis and James Troisi saw Victory to its win in its first home game of the year.

It will play its fourth game in 11 days when it makes the trip to Suncorp Stadium to face the Roar.

Victory has collected six points from a possible nine to begin what is a busy run of fixtures in January.

Antonis’ fourth goal of the season and Troisi’s second – a tremendous effort from an angle – helped Victory get past the Jets.

Kenny Athiu set up Antonis with a lovely touch, while Corey Brown grabbed his second assist of the season with his pass to Troisi.

Victory – which is second on the table – has three more games in January, with two of those home clashes against Wellington Phoenix and Sydney FC.

Keisuke Honda (hamstring), Nick Ansell (hamstring) and Georg Niedermeier (calf) were sidelined for the meeting with Newcastle.

Victory has won its past two league trips to Brisbane, which is ninth on the table.
