Kosta Barbarouses is set to make his 100th Hyundai A-League appearance for Melbourne Victory in its clash against Perth Glory.

Summary

Barbarouses, 28, will become just the 11th player to reach that milestone at the club if he features at AAMI Park on Sunday.

The New Zealand attacker is in his second stint at Victory and was the hero in last season’s Grand Final win against the Newcastle Jets.

Victory goes into the Round 2 clash on the back of an unfortunate 2-1 Derby defeat in its season opener.

Keisuke Honda marked his Victory debut with a maiden goal for the club, heading in a Storm Roux cross for the opener.

James Troisi hit the post and Kevin Muscat’s men squandered numerous other chances.

Perth visits Melbourne on the back of a 1-1 draw against the Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday.

However, Victory is unbeaten in its past six home games against Glory, a run which started in March 2015.

Player in focus

What they said

“He [Honda] is an amazing player and probably his biggest attribute is he’s hard working. Even on the weekend, his defensive work rate is massive and maybe sometimes you don’t see that so much with the big marquees like him. Even around the training ground, he’s always on everyone if we’re not having a good training session so he’s a great person to have around the club and he really has high expectations of himself and the team so it really pushes everyone. It’s great to have him.” – Victory defender Nick Ansell.
