Off-season news update

In the short time since the 2018/19 Hyundai A-League season ended, there has been a significant amount of behind-the-scenes work undertaken at Melbourne Victory to place the Club in a strong position for the season ahead.

Head coach

Significant progress has been made in the hunt for our new head coach. Attracting interest locally and from around the world, the calibre of talent has been impressive, leaving us confident in finding the right person to deliver the outcomes we are all seeking.

The five-person selection panel, including Chairman Anthony Di Pietro, CEO Trent Jacobs, GM of Football Operations Paul Trimboli, FFA Technical Director Rob Sherman and former Socceroo Mark Bresciano have spoken to several high-quality candidates during the first-round of interviews and are now working towards further refining the shortlist.

This appointment is certainly the Club’s priority. We are getting closer and will keep you informed.

Carl Valeri returns

The Club is delighted to confirm that our two-time Championship-winner and former captain Carl Valeri – who recently retired – has accepted a full-time role focusing on leadership, culture and welfare.

Within this role, Carl will lead the welfare program, drive education around player responsibilities, provide integration and transition support for new players and be the important football link across the administrative side of the business.

This is an important appointment for our club as Carl has always been a strong leader and someone who embodies Melbourne Victory’s values.
