Stats analysis: W-League season

Take a look at some of the key stats from Melbourne Victory’s Westfield W-League 2016/17 season.

Victory ended its 2016/17 campaign on Saturday with nine points, two more than it recorded last season.

Tenacious trio

Three players managed to feature in every minute of Victory’s campaign.

Captain Christine Nairn, star forward Natasha Dowie and defender Alex Natoli played all 1080 minutes of the season.

Dowie’s flurry of goals

With nine, Dowie set a record for most goals in a Westfield W-League season for Victory.

Only Nairn (two goals) also managed to score more than once for the club during the 2016/17 season.

Privitelli, Nairn lead assists

Lia Privitelli and Nairn led Victory for assists with three each this season.

Teenager MelindaJ Barbieri chipped in with two.

Late drama

Of its 17 goals, Victory scored most frequently between the 16th and 30th minutes and 76th and 90th, netting four times in both of those 15-minute periods.

It conceded 15 of its 28 goals from the 61st minute onwards.

More ball for opponents

In its 12 games this season, Victory had less possession than its opponents on 10 occasions.
