Toivonen to miss trip to Mariners

Melbourne Victory Head Coach Marco Kurz has revealed Ola Toivonen won’t make the trip to face the Central Coast Mariners on Sunday.

“Ola is not available, he is still in the rehab process that means the progression is well, but not good enough to start or to play,” Kurz said.

The Victory captain is still recovering from a slight groin strain he picked up during the Round 11 win over Melbourne City.

Toivonen trained at Gosch’s Paddock today and Kurz said he was hopeful his key striker would be available for the following week’s match against Adelaide.

“If it was a final we would risk it but it’s good to take care and make him fit for the game in Adelaide.”

“In sport anything can happen, but it is our goal and it is looking good and that means we have a good chance of him being fit for Adelaide.”

Sunday’s Round 14 Hyundai A-League clash at Central Coast Stadium is the first meeting between the two sides this season.
