Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of experienced NWSL defender Emily Menges for the Westfield W-League 2019/20 Season on loan from the Portland Thorns.

Menges, 27, has over 120 appearances for the Portland Thorns in the NWSL in which time she has won the 2016 NWSL Shield and the 2017 NWSL Championship.

This will be Menges’ first experience playing in a league outside America and the defender is looking forward to linking up with Victory.

“I’ve been excited to join this team for months,” said Menges.

“I’ve heard great things about the club, and I hope to contribute to the already very successful reputation of Melbourne Victory.

“Thanks to everyone at Victory for welcoming me to the club and the city of Melbourne – I can’t wait for the season to start!”

The defender becomes Melbourne Victory’s third US signing announced on Wednesday, following Hayley Hanson and Darian Jenkins, and completes the W-League roster for 2019/20.
