Victoria-s youngest football superstars have battled it out, with School Sports Victoria-s (SSV) adidas Victory Cup and ME Bank Victory Cup now run and won.

The partnership between Melbourne Victory Football Club and School Sports Victoria gave the state-s best young footballers a chance to represent their schools at Darebin International Sports Centre in September.

The finals showcased the eight Victorian regional champions across a range of age groups, who represented their own region and school, following competitions held throughout the year. Almost 3,000 schools across the state battled it out for a finals berth, with about 1,430 secondary school teams and 1,320 primary schools competing.

The adidas Victory Cup was awarded to the winning primary school teams, with the ME Bank Victory Cup handed out to high school winners.

Melbourne Victory players were on hand to present the trophies, share their football knowledge and hand deliver special showbags to students.

Melbourne Victory and SSV are focused on developing grassroots football and supporting the explosive growth of the game throughout Victoria. In recent years, the participation rates of junior football have increased dramatically with many children seeing football as a fresh new alternative compared to other more traditional sporting codes.

This year, new community sponsors adidas and ME Bank joined forces with Melbourne Victory Football Club to help the competition expand.
