Melbourne Victory has added two players to an extended squad for its postponed match against Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium.

James Donachie returns from suspension while George Howard has been promoted to an 18-man squad, with two players to be omitted before kick-off.

The match, originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been pushed back to Monday night to avoid an expected heatwave in New South Wales.

Victory is unbeaten in its past four games against the Jets, including a 4-2 win when the teams last met in January.

On its last Hyundai A-League trip to Newcastle, Victory prevailed 1-0 thanks to a goal from Fahid Ben Khalfallah in January 2016.

Worryingly for the Jets, Victory winger Marco Rojas has six goals and three assists in his past four games against Newcastle.

Victory, which won the Melbourne Derby 2-1 last week, is second on the Hyundai A-League ladder after 18 rounds, while seventh-placed Newcastle is looking to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to Perth Glory.

Monday night’s match will be broadcast live and exclusively on Fox Sports 505 from 7.30pm AEDT.
