Members of Melbourne Victory’s Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League squads paid special visits to the Starlight Express Room this week, spreading Christmas cheer to children and their families.

With a helping hand from the Starlight Captains and volunteers, players were more than happy to push pause on preparations for the coming weekend.

Carl Valeri, Leigh Broxham, Lawrence Thomas, Nic Sette, Matthew Sutton, Ella Mastrantonio, Lia Privitelli, Melina Ayres and Annabel Martin spent time at Monash Children’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital on Monday and Wednesday afternoon.

Games of FIFA were commonplace and in high demand, as were singing and dancing competitions, arts and crafts and even face painting, with Melbourne Victory’s captain and number one goalkeeper happily getting in on the act.

“It’s an honour to be here helping out, and I’m looking forward to getting in there and getting my face painted,” said Lawrence Thomas.
