Victory eager to bounce back against Reds in W-League

Victory eager to bounce back against Reds in W-League

Melbourne Victory will be looking to secure its first points of the Westfield W-League season when it takes on Adelaide United at Epping Stadium on Sunday.

Dave Edmondson’s side put on a spirited performance against Newcastle Jets last week, though a goal from Chloe Logarzo on the stroke of half-time gave the visitors the lead.

Victory pushed hard for a second-half equaliser, Thea Slatyer rattling the woodwork with a header and Christine Nairn also going close via a well-hit free-kick.

But Victory was ultimately unable to find a goal, going down 1-0 despite a determined second-half showing.

Victory faces an in-form United on Sunday, with the Reds third on the Westfield W-League ladder after beating second-placed Brisbane Roar 2-1 on Sunday.

Both teams have named unchanged squads for the clash, with Gulcan Koca (foot) and Selin Kuralay (knee) the only forced absentees for Victory, while Adelaide boasts a clean bill of health.

The match will be Victory’s last at home before back-to-back away games against Western Sydney Wanderers and Perth Glory.

Entry at Epping Stadium is free for Victory members and kids and $5 for non-members, with kick-off at 3.00pm.
