Melbourne Victory completed its Westfield W-League season with a 4-0 loss to Brisbane Roar on Sunday.
Goals from Clare Polkinghorne, Katrina Gorry, Kirsty Yallop and Angela Beard saw Roar to its win at Broadbeach United Soccer Club.
Roar made a bright start and, after Katrina Gorry struck the woodwork, took control of the contest.
Polkinghorne headed in a corner and Gorry doubled the hosts’ lead with a neat finish.
Victory striker Natasha Dowie, who scored a stunning winner against Newcastle Jets, almost dragged the visitors back into the contest, but her chip went just over the bar.
Just before the half-hour, Roar struck for a third time as Yallop made it 3-0.
The second half was a far more even contest, but Victory was unable to find a goal to get back into the game.
Annabel Martin went close when she struck the post before Beard completed Roar’s win in additional time.
