Melbourne Victory claimed its first win of the Westfield W-League season, beating Perth Glory 3-1 on Saturday.

Hayley Raso and Christine Nairn struck and Whitney Knight scored off the bench at Ashfield Sports Club as Victory kick-started its season.

After a bright start, Victory – with Liverpool and England striker Natasha Dowie making her debut – took the lead in the ninth minute through Raso.

Victory looked dangerous throughout the first half, but would have to wait until after the break to double its lead.

Nairn struck with a free-kick in the 52nd minute as Victory closed in on its first win of the season.

Shannon May gave the hosts hope of a comeback with a goal after a spell of pressure, but substitute Knight sealed the points for Victory late on with her second goal of the campaign.

Victory will look to build on its win when it takes on Melbourne City in the derby on December 6.
