Melbourne Victory Women will make the tough trek to the ACT to take on Canberra United at McKellar Park in a crucial encounter this Saturday (kick off 6pm).

Canberra recorded a valuable away win earlier this season when it overpowered Victory Women at Bob Jane Stadium in tough conditions.

Canberra played a tough, uncompromising style that afternoon against an unsettled Victory Women on its home patch.

Victory Women Coach Matt Shepherd admitted it would be a challenging road trip to Canberra.

"They got the better of us the last time we met in Melbourne, so you would expect they-ll be even tougher to beat in Canberra," Shepherd said.

"We still had our chances in our earlier meeting but credit has to go to them for making the most of theirs.

"It-s a pretty important game for both of us."

Only goal difference separates Victory Women and Canberra on the Westfield W-League table, emphasising the importance of the game.

Victory Women sit in third position with Canberra equal on 12 points just a rung below them.
