Victory’s AFC Champions League group one step closer

Victory’s AFC Champions League group one step closer

Melbourne Victory’s AFC Champions League group is one step closer to being finalised following Tuesday night’s penultimate qualifier.

Goals from Lewlin Irving Jnr, Suriya Singmai and Bill helped Thailand’s Chiangrai United defeat Myanmar’s Yangon United 3-1 at the United Stadium of Chiangrai.

Chiangrai will now face Japan’s Sanfrecce Hiroshima on Tuesday, 19 February, with the winner of that match taking the final place in Group F alongside Victory, China’s Guangzhou Evergrande and South Korea’s Daegu FC.

Former Victory favourite Besart Berisha could return to Melbourne to face his old side, should Sanfrecce navigate next week’s play-off.

Melbourne Victory faces Daegu FC on Match Day 1 at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on Tuesday, 5 March – tickets are now available and members receive a 20% discount.
