Melbourne Victory midfielder Gui Finkler says he’s looking forward to heading to Central Coast this weekend, while captain Mark Milligan has also made a return to the training track.

Finkler, who, along with ‘keeper Nathan Coe, has played every match this season, said he was pleased he had been able to string games together and was keen to pick up all three points against the Mariners.

Press play on the video above to hear Finkler’s thoughts on this weekend’s match against Central Coast, the potential return of Mark Milligan and much more.

Finkler, who lined up alongside Tom Rogic for the first time in the 1-1 draw with Perth said he was enjoying playing with the Socceroo.

“He’s a good player, he’s clever and it’s so easy to be in his side, so it makes it easy for me as well,” Finkler said.

The 28-year-old said competition for spots in the midfield was also keeping players on their toes.

“We are here to play, it’s good for the club when you are fighting for a spot. Whenever you have a session you are doing the most to fight for your spot.”

As Milligan made a return to the training pitch just a few weeks after undergoing surgery on his knee, FInkler said his captain was looking good, but knew the decision on whether or not he would return this weekend would be made by the club’s medical staff.

“It’s the hard part now, we need to be careful not to make it worse or come back too quickly… the staff, the coach know what is best for him so we will see.”
