Melbourne Victory defender Scott Galloway believes the depth of his side’s squad will help it achieve big things this season.

After Monday’s solid 2-0 victory over Wellington, despite missing a number of players through injury and suspension, Galloway said the result showed the talent and depth of the squad.

“(The win) shows how good all the players are in this team and it shows that we’re going to be a team to watch this year,” Galloway said.

“I feel if someone steps out, we’ve got players that can step in and do the job as well, so it really shows that no matter what’s happening we’re always going to be ready.

“I think people are really starting to believe that there could be really something happening this year and everyone’s looking forward to it and really can’t wait.”

Galloway, who himself has been called up for international duty later this month, said the depth of the squad would again be tested, but he was confident the side would cope.

“It is tough, especially with a club like Victory,” Galloway said.

“We have so many internationals. That’s a credit to the club, to have so many good young players and senior players coming through. It definitely takes its toll, but (with) our depth in the squad, we can make do with what we’ve got when they’re away, we showed that on the weekend.”Â
