Melbourne Victory Coach Kevin Muscat has named an extended 18 man squad for Friday night’s clash with Central Coast Mariners.
Brazilian Gui Finkler and defender Scott Galloway will remain in Melbourne, with Muscat unwilling to risk the duo with doubts surrounding the pitch quality at North Sydney Oval.
Coming in to the squad are Jason Geria, who returns from injury, Andrew Nabbout, Dylan Murnane and Jesse Makarounas.
Speaking ahead of his side’s trip to North Sydney to take on the Mariners, Muscat said there was no reason to play anyone who was feeling sore.
“Under the circumstances and where we have to play, there’s no point trying to get them up this week, there’s too much of a risk to their body,” Muscat said.
“Taking them to play on a cricket pitch is probably not the best idea.”
Melbourne Victory take on the Central Coast Mariners at North Sydney Oval on Friday night, kick-off 7:40pm. The match will be broadcast live on SBS ONE & Fox Sports 505.
