Melbourne Victory’s new assistant coach Jean-Paul de Marigny says he can’t wait for his first match as assistant this Sunday.

Press play on the video above to find out more about de Marigny’s coaching background and his expectations for the season ahead.

de Marigny will be on the bench for the first time against a familiar opponent, with the 49-year-old having played a role in developing the inaugural Jets squad.

But with his focus now firmly on Melbourne Victory, the new assistant said he was looking forward to working with a strong squad.

“It’s the biggest club in Australia and I’m very privileged to be asked to work at the football club,” de Marigny said.

“I thought the squad was very exciting when I wasn’t here – I’ve always enjoyed watching them play and I think the quality is very high and the squad is very well balanced.”
