Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat says Socceroo Tom Rogic is likely to make his first start for the club against Perth this Friday night.

Muscat said the club was keen to bounce back, following two very tough results.

“It-s been a tough fortnight, but it-s obviously something we can-t shy away from,” Muscat said.

“I wanted to see a reaction during the week and asked everyone to stand up during the week and show me they wanted to play for this football club and I have had that reaction. It-s not been an easy week. A lot of egos have been dented.”

Adama Traore and Pablo Contreras are set to return to the back four, with Adrian Leijer set to miss this trip to Perth, after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Sydney.

Muscat also said Rogic had been working hard on the track and was looking to be ready for a starting spot on Friday night.

“We-ve pushed him as much as we can, I thought he was bright when he came on in difficult circumstances, so it-s certainly something we are looking at,” Muscat said.

With back-to-back defeats, Muscat said his confidence in his system hadn-t changed.

“When we apply ourselves within a structure, we-ve been a match for any team.

“I don-t make excuses, but the facts state we have been disrupted over the last six weeks, so finding that consistency has been a struggle.”
